Francois DEVIENNE, born (1759) in Joinville, died (1803) in Charenton. A French composer, woodwind player and flute professor at the Paris Conservatory. He was the author of an essential flute textbook ”Methode de Flute Theorique et Pratique” (1793), which was reprinted multiple times, and was considered a significant contribution to heighten the standard of the French woodwind music in the late 18th century.
The ”Sonata Op.24 No.3” was originally composed for bassoon and basso continuo, now transcribed into an alto saxophone and piano piece by saxophonist Cheng-yu LEE.
