This book analyses and evaluates the mechanism of Guangdong"s economic development after the implementation of the open door policy. The six chapters of this book examine the reform and open door policy and evaluate the results of these in Guangdong, study structural changes in Guangdong in the context of its outward oriented development strategy, explore the resulting social changes in the province, as well as the relationship of Guangdong province with the centre and other provinces.
